A new Trailer and Character Posters for THE ROVER staring Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce have been released.
THE ROVER, David Michod’s highly anticipated follow-up to ANIMAL KINGDOM, is set in a world 10 years following the collapse of society. The rule of the law has disintegrated and life is cheap. The film follows hardened loner Eric (Pearce) as he travels the desolate towns and roads of the outback. When a gang of thieves steals his car they leave behind a wounded Rey (Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that still matters to him. Michod also wrote the film based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton.
A24Films, the distributor for Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce’s highly anticipated movie THE ROVER, has announced that the US release date has been pushed up from previously reported. Now the film will have a limited release on June 13th, followed by a wide release on June 20th.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the TWILIGHT movies Summit Entertainment is releasing TWILIGHT FOREVER: THE COMPLETE SAGA with all 5 movies, behind the scenes, a photo album and much more! Many TWILIGHT fans have been getting overly sentimental about the fact that there isn’t a new movie coming out this fall so this new DVD definitely softens the blow. ET got an exclusive look at some outtakes and bloopers of Rob and Kristen from the first TWILIGHT and they are absolutely adorable! Here’s to hoping there’s a lot more where this came from!
Check out the video below!
TWILIGHT FOREVER: THE COMPLETE SAGA comes out on BluRay and DVD November 5th!
It was announced today that Robert Pattinson will play Magnum photographer Dennis Stock in the film titled LIFE, the real life story about the friendship between James Dean (played by Dane DeHaan) and LIFE magazine photographer Dennis Stock. The movie is directed by Anton Corbijn (best known for CONTROL and THE AMERICAN).
Iain Canning and Emile Sherman — the producing team behind the Oscar-winning drama The King’s Speech and the acclaimed Michael Fassbender drama Shame — are producing Life via their See Saw Films. Glen Basner’s FilmNation will launch the project to foreign buyers at the Toronto Film Festival.
Stock was a young photographer working for the Magnum agency when he received an assignment that changed his life: to shoot a free-spirited actor named James Dean.
The gig became a personal journey for both as they traveled from L.A. to New York to Indiana. During the trip, Stock captured now-iconic images of the actor before he was launched to stardom with East of Eden (1955).
The movie, with a script by Luke Davies and a budget in the $10 million to $15 million range, is eyeing a shoot in early 2014.
When it came to the Christian Grey casting debate, Hollywood hunks, Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer were the top two choices to play the billionaire, BDSM addict. However, according to Bret Easton Ellis, they were never in the running to begin with! This is shocking news to me because Ian and Matt both were asked on many occasions about whether they would be interested in playing this iconic character.
Many people aren’t aware that FIFTY SHADES OF GREY was actually a Twilight fanfiction originally titled MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE (aka MOTU). Therefore, it’s only natural that EL James wanted Robert Pattinson for the lead role (because she quite frankly wrote the role for him). In fact, in an interview with MTV’s Joshua Horowitz, Rob mentioned that he had read the fanfiction MOTU. Now, how did the whole Robert Pattinson mention even come about? Well, in late June, Rob hosted a “Gatsby”-like party for his friend Nick Jareki. EL James was in attendance as well as Bret Easton Ellis.
When E.L. James asked me who I thought should be Christian I said “James Deen, of course” and then she shoved me. We were both very wasted.
Now that the two leads have officially been cast, Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey, the public’s reaction to Dakota and Charlie is mixed (with the scale tipping more towards negativity). I’m not going to say my opinion until I see these two on the big screen and what kind of chemistry they have together. EL James is a picky woman. She wouldn’t just let anyone play the roles of Anastasia and Christian. I have hope.
On Friday, Aug. 16, Robert Pattinson, actor and star of mega-hit movies “The Twilight Saga” and “Water for Elephants” dropped by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to spread cheer and visit with patients.
Teens from across the hospital—including the Acute Rehabilitation Center, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and The Heart Institute—gathered in the hospital’s Teen Lounge for a surprise guest. When Pattinson arrived, one young girl giggled and cried in awe. But the down-to-earth actor quickly settled the room and jumped into arts and crafts, decorating picture frames alongside patients. Pattinson laughed at his own creation—a pink frame with hearts sketched in—and tried unsuccessfully to convince the room of his “terrible” artistic skills.
The star graciously posed for endless photographs and signed every patient’s picture frame before heading off to visit two cystic fibrosis patients and huge Twilight fans who were unable to leave their rooms.
“We couldn’t help laughing and smiling when one of the patients was so starstruck she that couldn’t speak. You could tell it meant the world to her—she was tearing up and smiling ear to ear as we were leaving,” said Lyndsay Hutchison, senior public information officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “The other little girl teased him relentlessly and begged him to do an American accent. They were instant friends.”
“Robert was so nervous about meeting the kids—he didn’t want to let them down—which is a testament to how humble he is. He was incredibly gracious and kind. He will probably never fully understand what a huge lift he gave to these kids today, and how it will positively impact them over the long term,” shared Child Life specialist, Ana Vega.
Pattinson was able to visit the hospital because an upcoming movie, “Maps to the Stars,” which Pattinson is currently filming in Los Angeles will feature a short scene (not featuring Pattinson) in front of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Keep an eye out for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles when the film hits theaters!
Deadline is reporting that A24 has acquired The Rover, directed by David Michôd and starring Robert Pattinson & Guy Pearce. I’ve been following this movie since I heard about Pattinson’s involvement and I’m so glad it’s getting further in the process of being released!
A24 today announced the acquisition of David Michôd’s latest film THE ROVER for theatrical release in the U.S. The slow-burn thriller stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson and is set in the Australian desert in a dangerous and damaged near future. The film was written by Michôd and based on a story conceived by Michôd and Joel Edgerton. THE ROVER was produced by Liz Watts for Porchlight Film and David Linde under his Lava Bear Films banner, along with Michôd. The film also co-stars Scoot McNairy, David Field, Anthony Hayes, Gillian Jones and Susan Prior. Celebrated Argentinean filmmaker Natsha Braier acted as Director of Photography and Michôd also teamed up again with Animal Kingdom Production Designer, Jo Ford.
THE ROVER is set in a world ten years following the collapse of the western economic system, where Australia’s mineral resources have drawn the desperados and dangerous to its shores. With society in decline, the rule of law has disintegrated and life is cheap. The film follows hardened loner Eric (Pearce), who travels the desolate towns and roads of the Australian outback. When a gang of thieves steals his car they leave behind the wounded Rey (Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that matters to him.
A24 says: “David Michôd is a visionary filmmaker and we are thrilled to work with him to bring THE ROVER to US audiences. The movie will undoubtedly confirm his singular voice and distinctive gift for creating arresting visuals and indelible characters.”
Soon after confirming the U.S. deal producers Liz Watts and David Linde commented that ”A24 is a perfect fit for THE ROVER – a young, innovative and exciting company at the cutting edge of the independent sector in the US, they have contributed to an already exciting array of global distribution partners, and we are pleased to be partnering with them on the future release of the film.”
A24 negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers and FilmNation Entertainment. UTA also represents Michôd. Prior to selling the U.S. rights to A24, FilmNation Entertainment licensed the film to a majority of territories worldwide based on selectively showing a two-minute reel of footage from the film.
The film was shot this spring on location in the deserts of South Australia, and is currently in post-production in Sydney. Village Roadshow will release the film in Australia and New Zealand. THE ROVER’S investment partners include Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and Screen NSW, and financial partners Fulcrum Media and the Union Bank.
Fans have known for a while now and we’ve been not so patiently waiting for Dior to announce it – Robert Pattinson is the new face of Dior Homme Fragrance! Congratulations, Rob! I can already tell that this fragrance will be a best seller – so many people are already talking about purchasing the fragrance as soon as they can. Personally, I hope they have their pre-order all set up and ready to go because I am going to be all over that!
Rob stars in a campaign photographed by Nan Goldin and filmed by Romain Gavras. The first photo by Dior is below, I can’t wait to see more! Below is the tweet & photo that Dior posted today!
Division Films is reporting that Queen of the Desert will start filming in September in Morocco. The film is set to be directed by Werner Herzog and currently has Robert Pattinson and Naomi Watts attached. Jude Law was also supposedly cast but recently said his schedule isn’t allowing him to participate. I can’t wait to hear about other casting & production news!
The plot according to the IMDB page;
A chronicle of Gertrude Bell’s life, a traveler, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attaché for the British Empire at the dawn of the twentieth century.
I don’t think the summary is doing it justice, what do you think? Are you intrigued yet? I think Pattinson and Watts are incredible actors, as of now they are the reason I am following this film.
Pattinson’s career has been evolving drastically since he shot fame after Twilight in 2008. I’ve been following him since he was Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and I love how he chooses very diverse roles. If you haven’t already I completely recommend you rent Cosmopolis directed by David Cronenberg! You’ll see a side to Pattinson you didn’t know existed.
