One Direction’s “Midnight Memories” Is The UK’s Fastest Selling Album Of The Year

One Direction’s third album, “Midnight Memories,” has only been out for four days and is already the UK’s fastest selling album of the year. Although the charts aren’t officially announced until the end of the week, they’ve already sold 187,660 copies, surpassing Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories,” which held the record at 165,091 copies. MusicWeek predicts that the album will be the first to open with 200,000 copies this year. The album has also sold more than both of the band’s previous albums in the first week, “Up All Night” opening with 138,631 and “Take Me Home” with 155,316.

“Midnight Memories” is also the band’s most mature album by far, with edgier songs such as the title track “Midnight Memories” and the classic rock sounding “Little Black Dress.” Other standouts on the album are “Little White Lies” and “Don’t Forget Where You Belong,” which was actually co-written by Niall Horan and McFly, not to mention the hit singles “Best Song Ever” and “Story Of My Life.” The album is in stores and on iTunes now, including a deluxe version with four extra songs.
