Last week on “The X Factor” was British Invasion week. The Final ten took on songs from British acts including the most successful act in “The X Factor” history, One Direction. This week was another double elimination.
First up to perform was Jeff Gutt representing The Over 25’s. Taking on Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, Jeff”s performance impressed the audience and the judges with Simon and Demi stating it as his best performance yet. Tim Olstad was next to take the stage with Elton John’s ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’, playing the piano whist performing in a bid to prove he has got “The X Factor” and he definitely proved it. Congratulations Tim, he has had it so hard from the judges recently. Next up representing Demi’s Girls was Khaya Cohen singing The Beatles ‘Let It Be’. Having been in the bottom two last week Khaya gave her performance her all, receiving some constructive criticism from the judges they acknowledged her talent and amazing potential. Josh Levi was next to take the stage with his performance of The Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’, making the song his own with a modern twist, Josh impressed the judging panel except for Simon but most importantly he impressed the audience. First up for The Groups was Alex & Sierra with One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’, their interesting take on the song impressed their mentor Simon, who was unimpressed by their performance last week but Sierra received some harsh comments from the other judges. Rion Paige was up next with her incredible performance of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ blowing everyone away. We love Rion, her talent is unbelievable and we know she will go far. Next for The Boys was Carlito Olivero with The Rolling Stones’ hit ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’, still missing something from his performance he received some critiques from the judging panel as they encouraged him to embrace his Latino side believing it is where his true talent lies. Following Carlito was Lillie McCloud breaking out of her comfort zone to perform one of our all time favorite songs, Kate Bush’s ‘This Woman’s Work’. Lillie reminded the judges of her wonderful talent something her past performances have caused them to question. Ellona Santiago was the last of The Girls to perform with Ellie Golding’s ‘Burn’, her rendition of this song did little to show her true talent and caused Simon to question her security in the public voting. Last but definitely not least was the amazing Group Restless Road, their rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ left the judges on the fence, not believing the boys gave themselves in their performance. Simon however was really impressed by their performance.
The results show saw the first elimination of the night, receiving the lowest in the public votes, surprisingly was Khaya Cohen who was sent home. Taking to “The X Factor” stage was the shows biggest international success One Direction, promoting their newest album #MidnightMemories singing ‘Story Of My Life’ the boys were amazing as usual! In this week’s bottom two were Paulina’s Boys Tim Olstad and Carlito Olivero who each performed their ‘save me songs’. Tim Olstad was first to sing for survival with ‘You Raise Me Up’ by Josh Groban , followed by Carlito Olivero with Labrinth’s ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’. It was then up to the judges to decide who will be sent home, Kelly and Demi and The Boys mentor, Paulina sent Tim home. Carlito will advance to next week.
We are down to the top 8 acts in the competition, we cannot wait to see what else they have to offer!
