For those of you that are like me and love those awkward teen love stories, I’d like to formally introduce you to one of my new faves, The First Time, starring Britt Robertson (SCREAM 4, LIFE UNEXPECTED) and Dylan O’Brien (TEEN WOLF, THE INTERNSHIP).
Dave (Dylan O’Brien) is an incurable romantic in love with the hottest girl in school, Jane (Victoria Justice). Unfortunately, she only thinks of him as a friend — without benefits. Through a chance encounter, Dave meets Aubrey (Britt Robertson), an alluring girl from a nearby school, which sparks a flame that soon becomes a red-hot romance filled with all the angst, missteps and awkwardness of a first time love! Hilarious and heartwarming, The First Time is an unforgettable coming-of-age comedy featuring a sizzling ensemble cast.
Now that you at least have an idea of what the movie is about, let me give you my take on it. First off, the movie stars Dylan O’Brien. He is a gorgeous, awkward twenty-something actor who could have passed for Edward Cullen if he had just been a little older when they were casting the Twilight films. Can I now talk about his jaw .. or his physique? *drool* Okay, that’s probably a tad inappropriate, but you get the picture, right?
Secondly, this movie went to Sundance back in 2012 and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. That’s a pretty big deal! The folks at Sundance don’t play around, so to be selected means the movie has to be made well (and it is!). Lastly, the chemistry between Dylan O’Brien and Britt Robertson is absolutely mouthwatering! I don’t want to give too much away, but the build up to … the first time … is very steamy and leaves you wanting more.
